 Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll (/S@'kI@r@sh@-KEER-@ Spanish: [(t)Sa'kira]; born 2 February 1977) is a Colombian singer.Born and raised in Barranquilla the city, she has been called the "Queen of Latin Music" and is recognized for her musical versatility. She made her debut recording in the studio of Sony Music Colombia at the age of 13. Following the failure of her first two albums Magia (1991), and Peligro (1993) her debut recording was made with Sony Music Colombia when she was 13. (1998). She entered the English-language market with her fifth album Laundry Service (2001), which sold over 13 million copies worldwide. The international success of her singles "Whenever, Wherever" and "Underneath Your Clothes" helped to establish her status as a top cross-over artist. Broadcast Music, Inc. stated that Shakira as an "pioneer" who widened the global reach of Latino singers.Her success was further confirmed by her Spanish album Fijacion Oral, Vol. 1 (2005), Sale el Sol (2010), and El Dorado (2017),
