Jo Raquel Welch (nye Tejada 5 September 1940) is an American actress.She first won attention for her role in Fantastic Voyage (1966), and then she signed an engagement with 20th Century Fox. They gave her contract to Hammer Film Productions in Britain, where she was featured in One Million Years B.C. (1966). Even though she had only three lines of dialogue, her photos in the bikini with her doe-skin became bestsellers and created her a worldwide image of sex. In later years, she was in Bedazzled (1967), Bandolero! (1968), 100 Rifles (1969), Myra Breckinridge (1970) and Hannie Caulder (1971). Welch was the star of many television variety specials. Her performance of powerful women characters allowed her to break out of the mold of the traditional sex symbol. Hollywood's relentless promotion of blonde beauty queens was behind her success in the 1960s.
