Patti LaBelle

 Patricia Louise Holte (born May 24, 1944)best known as Patti LaBelle, is an American actor, singer and businesswoman. LaBelle is also known as the "Godmother Of Soul". She began her career as the frontwoman and lead singer of the group vocalists Patti LaBelle, and the Bluebelles in the 1960s. The group's name was changed to Labelle in the 1970s and the release of their number-one hit "Lady Marmalade". As a result, after the group split in 1976, LaBelle began a successful solo career. It began with her critically-acclaimed debut album which included the career-defining song, "You Are My Friend". LaBelle became a mainstream solo performer in 1984, following the success of the singles "If Only You were aware", "Love, Need and Need You" (later included in 2002's "Dilemma"), "New Attitude" and "Stir It Up". The following year, LaBelle was a mainstream solo star. In 1986, LaBelle had a number one album, Winner in You. The hit single "On My Own" with Michael McDonald was also a success. In 1989, Be Yourself recorded the classic "If You Asked me To". Celine Dion covered the track.
