Morgan Freeman, born June 1st 1937, is an American actor and director. He is renowned for his distinctive deep voice and various roles across a range of genres in film. Throughout his career spanning over five decades, he's received multiple accolades which include the Academy Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and the Golden Globe Award.Born in Memphis, Tennessee, Freeman was raised in Mississippi where he started acting in school productions. In his early days being a stage actor and studied theatre arts in Los Angeles. He gained fame in the 1970s thanks to his role on the children's television series The Electric Company. Freeman was also part of the Shakespearean productions of Coriolanus, which earned him an Obie Award. Street Smart (1987) was his most memorable role, in which Freeman played a hustler. This earned him an Academy Award nomination as Best Supporting Actor. Further stardom came with Glory (1989) and the biographical drama Lean on Me (89) as well as Glory (1989).
