Kimberly Denise Jones, born July 11, 1974, also known as Lil' Kim , is an American rapper and reality TV personality. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York City, she lived much of her childhood on the streets following being removed from her home. In her teens, Jones would freestyle rap inspired by female hip-hop artists such as MC Lyte and the Lady of Rage. In 1994, she was discovered by another rapper, The Notorious B.I.G., who invited her to join his group Junior M.A.F.I.A. Their debut album, Conspiracy, was released in 1994. It was certified double platinum and received two top 20 singles in America. It had the highest sales in the US for a female-oriented rap album at the time.
