Kevin Gates

 Kevin Jerome Gilyard (born February 5, 1986) is better known under his stage name Kevin Gates, is an American artist, rapper, and entrepreneur. He is currently associated with Bread Winners' Association with the partnership of Atlantic Records. The first album of his studio, Islah was released in January of 2016. It peaked at number 2 on the US Billboard 200 charts. Prior to Islah, Gates also released several mixtapes, including Stranger Than Fiction, By Any Means, and Luca Brasi 2, all of which reached the top 40 on the Billboard 200 chart.Kevin Jerome Gilyard was born on 5 February 1986 to an Puerto Rican mother and an African American father. After the move to New Orleans, Louisiana with his family, he moved to Baton Rouge. Gates had an often tumultuous life and was detained for the first time in 1999 at 13 for riding in a stolen vehicle as a passenger. Although he lost touch with his father young, he reconnected with his father later in his teens. His father died of complications caused by AIDS at the age of Gates was just 14 years old. He was 17 when He briefly attended Baton Rouge Community College.Gates is of Moroccan and Puerto Rican descent.
