Kate Winslet

 Kate Elizabeth Winslet CBE (/'wInzl@t born 5 October 1975) is an English actress. Her work is renowned for its appearance in independent films, particularly period dramas, and for her portrayals of headstrong and complicated women, she has been awarded numerous awards, including an Academy Award, a Grammy Award, two Primetime Emmy Awards, three BAFTA Awards, and five Golden Globe Awards. Time magazine named Winslet one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2010 and 2021. She was made Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in 2012.Winslet was a drama student at the Redroofs Theatre School. At the age of 15, her first screen appearance was on the British television show Dark Season (1991). Her film debut came in as a teenage killer in Heavenly Creatures (1994), and then went on to win an BAFTA Award for playing Marianne Dashwood in Sense and Sensibility (1995). The world was abuzz with her leading role in the epic romantic Titanic (1997) which was the top-grossing film of the time. Winslet has opted out of blockbuster roles to focus on critically-acclaimed period films such as Quills (2001) as well as Iris (2000).
