Karen Sheila Gillan (/'gIl@n/ born 28 November 1987) is an Scottish actress. She was recognized for her work in British TV and film especially for her role as Amy Pond, a primary companion to the Eleventh Doctor in the science fiction series Doctor Who (2010-2013), where she won numerous awards and nominations. Jane Lockhart and Ally were her first roles in films as part of the romantic comedy Not Another Happy Ending (2013). She also appeared on stage in Britain as she appeared in John Osborne's play Inadmissible Evidence (2011) before making her Broadway debut in the production Time to Act (2013).Gillan made her move to Hollywood acting as Kaylie Russell in the film horror Oculus (2013), her debut commercial success in the United States, and thereafter played the lead in the sitcom Selfie (2014). She became famous internationally for portraying Nebula in the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero films Guardians of the Galaxy (2014), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.
