Karen Sheila Gillan (/'gIl@n/ born 28 November 1987) is a Scottish actress. She gained recognition for her work on British TV and film, particularly for playing Amy Pond, a primary character in the Eleventh Doctor in the science-fiction series Doctor Who (2010-2013), for which she was awarded numerous nominations and awards. Jane Lockhart and Ally were her first film roles in the romantic comedy Not Another Happy Ending (2013). While in Britain she also performed on stage, first appearing in John Osborne’s play Inadmissible Evidence (2011) before making her Broadway debut with Time to Act (2013). She was the lead actress in Selfie (2014), and later as Kaylie Russell, a horror film. International stardom was her role in the role of Nebula in the Marvel Cinematic Universe superhero films Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. (2014) and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. Vol. 2.
