 Earl Simmons (December 18, 1970 - - April 9 2021), known professionally as DMX (short for "Dark Man X") was an American rapper and actor. His debut album called It's Hot and Dark, was released in 1998 to critical and commercial great success. It sold 251,000 copies in the first week. DMX released his top-selling album, ... And Then There Was X, in 1999. The album included the smash single "Party Up (Up in Here)". His singles from 2003 "Where is the Hood At?" and "X Will Give It To Ya" are commercially successful. The artist was the first to have an album debut at No.1 five times in consecutive weeks on the Billboard 200 charts. Overall, DMX sold over 74 million albums worldwide.DMX was featured in movies like Belly, Romeo Must Die, Exit Wounds, Cradle 2 the Grave and Last Hour. In 2006, he was a star in the reality TV series DMX: Soul of a Man which was broadcast on the BET cable television network. In 2003, he released the memoirs of his life entitled E.A.R.L. The Autobiography of DMX.
