Allen Ezail Iverson (/'aIv@rs@n/ born on June 7, 1975) is an American former professional basketball player. He was dubbed "the Answer" and was a part of 14 seasons with the National Basketball Association (NBA) playing at both the point guard and shooting guard positions. In 1997, Iverson was named NBA Rookie of the Year. He was also an 11-time NBA All-Star. In 2001 and 2005, he received the All-Star game MVP award. In 2001, he was the NBA's Most Valuable Player (MVP). He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in the year 2016. In October 2021, he was selected to the NBA 75th Anniversary Team.Iverson is frequently considered to be one of the greatest scorers and among the most influential athletes in NBA history.Iverson was a student at Bethel High School in Hampton, Virginia, and was a dual-sport athlete. He was awarded the Associated Press High School Player Award in basketball and football and also won the Division 5 AAA Virginia State Championship in both sports.
