 The Summer Olympics featured a range of distances for race walking events. There three race walking events in the 2020 Summer Olympics: a men's and a women's 20-kilometre walk, as well as the men's 50-kilometre walk. The races were held in a single-event format.The first men's races were held in 1908 at the London Olympics that featured three thousand meters and 10-mile distances. A 10-kilometre version was introduced during the 1912 Summer Olympics and was in use until 1952 (skipping three versions from 1928 to 1936). There was also a one-off 3000m walk during the 1920 Antwerp Olympics. In 1956, the 20-kilometer walk by men became the standard for shorter distances and has been in use ever since. The men's longer event of 50 km was first introduced during the 1932 Summer Olympics and has been held continuously to the present and even after a short elimination from the program in 1976 - the IAAF hosted a World Championship for the event to protest the decision and it was restored.The first women's competition was introduced during the 1992 Barcelona Olympics,
