 American businessman, philanthropist, and space explorer Jeff Bezos is perhaps best known for his creation of Amazon.com. Jeff Bezos, the founder of the company, chief executive officer and president of Amazon.com is also the chairman of the company's board. He was the first to surpass Bill Gates in terms of wealth in July of 2017. Between October 2017 to January 20,21 he was the richest person on the planet. At his peak the company owned 80 million shares of Amazon. Jeff donated 19.7 million shares of Amazon to his wife as part of his agreement to divorce in April between him and MacKenzie Bezos. At the time of transfer was $36 billion. Jeff's net worth fluctuated from $150 billion down to $114 billion following the settlement. Jeff was also a pre-IPO shareholder in Google.com. Jeff owns at most $1 billion shares of Alphabet Inc. This was prior to the divorce, and the company still has 80 million shares. Based on that estimate, Jeff's net worth topped an then-all-time high of $170 billion.
