Yvonne De Carlo (September 1 1922 - January 8, 2007 2007) was a Canadian-American dancer and actress. She was a Hollywood film star in the 1940s and 1950s she recorded numerous films and later appeared on the screen as well as on stage.Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, De Carlo was enrolled by her mother at the local dance school at the age of three. In the 1940s, she and her mother were moving to Los Angeles, where De Carlo was a contestant in beauty contests and worked as a dancer in nightclubs. In 1941, she started to work in motion pictures that focused on short subjects. She performed "The Lamp of Memory" in a three-minute Soundies musical. In 1942, she signed a three-year deal with Paramount Pictures, where she received uncredited bits in important films. E. B. Derr was her first appearance as an independent producer in James Fenimore cooper's adventure Deerslayer in 1943. She also starred in "The Lamp of Memory" in a three-minute Soundies musical. She made her debut in Salome"Where She Danced" (1945) in a Universal Pictures release that Walter Wanger said was "the most beautiful woman on the planet."
