Wesley Trent Snipes (born July 31st, 1962) is an American actor and film producer as well as a martial artist. His most notable roles in films include Major League (1989), New Jack City (91), White Men Can't jump (1992), Passenger 57(92), Rising Sun (1993), Demolition Man, (1993), To Wong Foo and Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar (1995), U.S. U.S. Julie Newmar (1995), The Expendables 3 (2014) and Coming 2 America (2021), as well as the Blade film trilogy (1998-04) where he portrays Blade. In television, he is known for his role in The Player (2015). Snipes was nominated to win the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Male for his role in The Waterdance (1992) and won the Volpi Cup for Best Actor for his role in the film One Night Stand (1997). He founded a production company, Amen-Ra Films, in 1991, as well as a subsidiary, Black Dot Media, to create projects for film and television. Since the age 12 he's been training in martial arts, achieving a 5th Dan black belt in Shotokan Karate as well as 2nd Dan black belt in Hapkido.
