Steve Martin

 Stephen Glenn Martin was born August 14 1945. He is an actor, comedian and writer from the United States. Martin has won five Grammy Awards, a Primetime Emmy Award, and was given an Honorary Academy Award in 2013. He was also nominated in 2016 for two Tony Awards. He has been awarded the Mark Twain award for American comedy, Kennedy Center Honors and AFI Life Achievement Award. Martin was ranked sixth on the list of Comedy Central's 100 stand-up comedians in 2004. He also received the Kennedy Center Honors and the Mark Twain Award for Humor in America, and the AFI Life Achievement Award. Martin first came to prominence in the late 1960s, when he wrote for The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. In 1969 Martin was awarded the Primetime Emmy Award. Martin's offbeat and absurdist comedy routines were performed in front of sold-out theatres on national tours during the 1970s. In the 1980s, after having quit stand-up comedy, Martin has made a name for himself as an actor, appearing in films such as The Jerk (1979)
