Sir Roderick David Stewart CBE (born 10 January 1945) is a British pop and rock singer and writer. Born and raised in London, he is of Scottish and English ancestry. With his distinctively raspy singing voice, Stewart is among the most popular music performers ever and has sold more than 250 million records around the world. Stewart has 10 top-selling albums, 31 top ten singles and six made it to number one in the UK. Four of his top ten singles made it to the top spot on Billboard Hot 100. In 2016, he was knighted for his dedication to music and charity. He was a member of The Dimensions in 1963 as the harmonica player and vocalist. Stewart was a member of Long John Baldry in 1964 and the All Stars in 1965. Then he joined the Jeff Beck Group, 1967. When he joined Faces in 1969, he also maintained a solo career releasing his debut album that year. Stewart's first albums featured an eclectic mixture of R&B folk, soul and folk. [5][6] His breakthrough album, 1971's Every Picture Tells a Story was his third album, and it reached the top of the charts in the UK.
