Martin Scorsese

 actor, screenwriter and producer. He is the recipient of a variety of important awards, including the Academy Award, a Grammy Award, three Emmy Awards, four British Academy Film Awards and two Directors Guild of America Awards as well as the AFI Life Achievement Award and the Kennedy Center Honor in 2007. Five of his films have been inducted into the National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as "culturally, historically or aesthetically significant".Scorsese received an MA from New York University's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development in 1968. His debut directorial film with Who's That Knocking on My Door (1967), was admitted into the Chicago Film Festival. In the 1970s and 80s decade, Scorsese emerged as one of the major actors in the New Hollywood era. His films, heavily in the tradition of his Italian-American heritage and New York City childhood, are centered around insecure macho males. They also examine the notions of machismo, crime, and Catholic notions of guilt, redemption as well as graphic representations and brutal violence.
