Lila Downs

 Ana Lila Downs Sanchez (born 9 September 1968) is a Mexican singer-songwriter. She sings her own compositions and the compositions of other musicians. She also draws inspiration from Mexican popular music and traditional. Born and raised in Oaxaca She primarily studied at the Institute of Arts by Oaxaca and later attended the University of Minnesota, before withdrawing to focus on her musical career. In 1994, she began to perform in Oaxaca's traditional scene. Downs debut album, La Sandunga (a commercial and critical hit) came out in 1999. With Border, her debut album, Downs achieved international success in 2001. The album was a huge success in Latin America and Mexico in the 2000s (decade). Downs's seventh album, Pecados y milagros .
