Robert James Ritchie, born January 17, 1971, is an American singer-songwriter and rapper. His style is a mix of hip-hop, rock and country. He is an aspiring musician and says he plays every instrument in the band he is in. He has also managed the production for two of his albums. Kid Rock started his music career as a DJ and rapper and released his first album Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast (1990) on Jive Records. The albums he released on his own The Polyfuze Method (1993) and Early Mornin' Stoned Pimp(1996) showed him developing a distinctive style. This was evident on his landmark album Devil Without a Cause (1998) that sold 14 million copies. The album and its follow-up, Cocky (2001), were noted for blending elements of hip hop as well as country and rock. "Cowboy" is his most popular single, was released in 1999. It is thought to be the most important song in country hip-hop. [3] His best-selling singles in general include "Picture" (2002) as well as "All Summer Long" (2008). His musical output, starting with Rock n Roll Jesus in 2007 has been geared towards country and rock.
