Kelly Clarkson

Kelly Brianne Clarkson (born April 24 in 1982) is an American musician, singer writer, author, and TV personality. She became famous following her win in the inaugural season of American Idol in 2002, which earned her a recording deal with RCA. Her debut single "A Moment Like This" topped the US Billboard Hot 100 and was the country's most-sold single in 2002. It was released as part of her debut album Thankful (2003) that was released on the top spot of the Billboard 200. Clarkson made a decision to reinvent herself, and quit Idol management to focus on the pop genre for Breakaway (2004). Breakaway was backed by four US Top-Ten singles, including the title song, "Since U Have Been Gone", "Behind These Hazel Eyes", "Because of You", and "Because of You". The album sold over 12 million copies around the world and she was awarded two Grammy Awards. Clarkson also was in charge of the creative direction of her third studio album, My December (2006), writing all of its songs, and also serving as the executive producer. Her label wasn't happy with the album's darker rock songs and reluctantly promoted the album.
