George Harvey Strait Sr. was born on May 18 1952. He is an American musician, singer and actor. Strait is frequently referred to as the "King of Country", and is a well-known singer, songwriter, actor, and music producer from the United America. His debut single, "Unwound", was released in 1981. It was the first single to be released that marked the mainstream development of the neotraditional style. The 1980s saw seven albums from Strait made it to the top of the country charts. In the 2000s, Strait was named Artist of the Decade by the Academy of Country Music, elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame and was awarded his first Grammy award for his album Troubadour. Strait has been the CMA Entertainer of the Year in 1989, 1990, and in 2013. He also won the ACM Entertainer-of the Year in 1990 & 2014. Strait has won more ACM and CMA awards than any other artist and has been nominated for more awards.
