George Harvey Strait Sr. (born May 18th, 1952) is an American country music singer as well as songwriter, actor and music producer. Strait is often referred to as the "King of Country", and is a well-known singer as well as songwriter, actor and music producer from the United States. The first single he released, "Unwound", was released in 1981. It marked the mainstream development of the neotraditional style. The 1980s saw seven albums by Strait made it to the top of the country charts. In the decade of 2000, Strait was named Artist of the Decade by the Academy of Country Music, inducted to the Country Music Hall of Fame and received his first Grammy award for his album Troubadour. Strait was awarded the CMA Entertainer of the Year in 1989 as well as 1990 and 2013.
