Colin Kaepernick

 Colin Rand Kaepernick, /'kaep@rnIk/KAP-@rnik born on 3 November 1987) is an American civil rights activist and football player who is a non-restricted agent. He was a six-year member of the San Francisco 49ers' National Football League (NFL) team. He protested police brutality and racial inequalities within the United States by kneeling during the National Anthem in 2016. Kaepernick was a college football player at Nevada Wolf Pack. He was the Western Athletic Conference's Offensive Player-of-the Year two times. He also became the first NCAA Division I player to score 10,000 passing yards and 4,000 rushing yards in the same season. He was drafted by the 49ers in Round 2 of the 2011 NFL Draft. Following Smith's concussion, Kaepernick was named the 49ers quarterback of the team in the 2012 season. Through the rest of the season, he served as the team's starter quarterback. He helped the team reach their first Super Bowl appearance in 1994. The 2013 season was his first full season as a starter, Kaepernick helped the 49ers to reach the NFC Championship Game. Kaepernick lost his starting quarterback position three times, and the 49ers did not make the playoffs another three times.
