Carrie Marie Underwood (born March 10 1983) is an American country music artist from the United States. She gained fame following her win in the fourth season of American Idol in 2005. The first country artist to debut at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts and the only solo artist to make it to the top position on the Hot 100 in 2000s. Some Hearts, her debut album, was accompanied by the songs that were crossovers, such as "Jesus Take the Wheel", as well as "Before He Cheats". It became the most successful solo female debut album in country music's history. The album won her three Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist. The next studio album, Carnival Ride (2007) featured one of the largest opening weeks ever by a female artist , and received two Grammy Awards. The album that she released her third studio album called Play On (2009) was preceded by the single "Cowboy Casanova" and was one of the most significant single-week upward movements on the Hot 100.
