Carrie Marie Underwood (born March 10, 1983)is an American country artist. She gained fame following her win in the fourth season of American Idol in 2005. The first country singer to debut at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 charts and the only solo country artist who reached the top spot on the Hot 100 in 2000s. Some Hearts, her debut album, was supported by the crossover singles "Jesus, Take the Wheel", and "Before He Cheats". It was the biggest-selling solo female debut album in the history of country music. She received three Grammy Awards for the album, including Best New Artist. Carnival Ride (2007), her second studio album featured one of the biggest opening weeks by any female artist. It also won two Grammy Awards. Her third studio album, "Play On", was preceded by the single "Cowboy Casanova", which saw one of the biggest single week upswings on Hot 100. She also won two Grammy Awards with the fourth album she released, Blown Away (2012). The crossover smash "Something in the water" was spawned by the compilation Greatest Hits Decade#1 (2014).
