O J Simpson

The People of the State of California v. Orenthal James Simpson is a criminal case that is pending in Los Angeles County Superior Court. O. J. Simpson is a former football broadcaster, player and actor of the National Football League (NFL) was acquitted and tried of the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. On the night on June 12th in 1994, Simpson and Goldman were assaulted and stabbed at Brown's Brentwood condominium. The trial spanned eleven months, from the jury's swearing in on the 9th of November 1994.Opening declarations were made on January 24, 1995, and Simpson was cleared of both murder counts on October 3 of the same year, despite the overwhelming forensic evidence against him.The trial was held shortly after the 1992 Los Angeles riots, and it is widely believed that controversially, the defense capitalised on the anger among the city's African American community at police to convince the majority-Black jury to release Simpson. The trial is often characterized as the trial of the century because of its global media attention and is described as the "most well-known" criminal trial in human history.
